who needs money??
Well, outside of secretly really wanting this pirate costume, I am pretty content to usually make my own costume fun! For instance, tonight I am headed to Chipotle to get a free dinner by dressing as a burrito! Anything for a free meal! So, here are my roommate’s ideas to celebrate halloween at a costume bash we are doing to this coming weekend:
a cactus
a ski slope
a fir tree
I think I’m going to be one of the following using a cow costume already in my posession: a cow patty (name tag says: Hello my name is Patty) a cowboy (hat and boots on cow) a cow pie (uh..?) or my favorite A cowabunga. I haven’t figured out how to pull that off yet, but I’m still working on it! Hooray for costumes!
Snail mail
Getting packages in the mail is seriously the best thing ever. Especially when it’s a surprise! My roommate’s mom just sent her some new superman sheets and bedding for our guest bed, and it was so fun to get a big box in the mail! Then today I got some tea and a tea ball for loose leaf tea from my old roommate, and it was so nice of her to send it to me just to say thanks for years of friendship!
Teaching
I found this totally cute project making monkeys to teach to my kindergarten class, and it made me start thinking about how much I used to like Curious George books when I was little. I think I can make the project seem like it has some educational value if I read a Curious George book to them, and we talk about monkeys or something. All I know is that finding things that kids can make that you can hang in the hallway from the ceilings for open house makes me look good
ha!
health smart
I teach a class one day a week, and when I see parents reward their children with fast food and soft drinks, it just kills me. Really-do we have to reward our children with monetary gifts, and unhealthy food just to get them to do what they are supposed to be doing?? So, in honor of this thought process, and a Psalters concert I attended this weekend, I am going to drink only water and Korean Ginseng Tea this whole month. Plus, in an effort to learn how to live simply, I am starting to think about selling to my coin collections and I am going to start a new perhpas unusual pattern in my week. I am going to get rid of two things every Thursday. Maybe a t-shirt, maybe a cd, maybe a book. But, in an effort to teach myself about simple living, I will continue to do this for at least 10 weeks.
My brother
My brother loves to wear this dreary black corona hat everywhere he goes. He says it’s a statement, but I think it’s just laziness to not wash his hair. He went to his senior year homecoming dance this weekend, and since my parents were out of town, I came over to take photos of him and his bossy date. I was like…uh…just a suggestion but maybe you should lose the hat? He did thankfully.
I don’t envy my mother. Taking care of him was so much work…he’s a young man-make your own lunch bro! I was glad to spend time with him and all, but I’m not ready to be a family kind of person at all. I’m the kind of person who still wants to party down in my downtown Cincinnati Condominium.
